What is phlebitis?

my calf gets sore when I walk a short distance, also is tender to the touch---what gives?

phlebitis is the infection/inflamation of a blood vessel.

If you have phlebitis in your calf, it would explain why it is tender to the touch, and also the soreness.

Some phlebitis needs to be surgically corrected, or treated with antibiotics. If you haven't consulted a medical professional, I reccomend you consider doing so in short order. Phlebitis can lead to a system-wide infection (sepsis) and shock (septic shock --> body starts shutting down and person dies) if not properly treated.

It means inflammation of a vein.

inflammation of one or several veins in your legs...it can be quite serious if one ruptures.

here is what my sister does when one suddenly starts screaming, they bulge out of her skin. She will rip off her pants, yes in front of my ex husband, scream for an ice pack and hold that too it, wrapped very tight....she applies a ton of pressure with the ice pack. Within a few minutes its usually gone back down and she feels better! She is prone to phlebitis, blood clots and vericose veins....
