methadone take away the opiud high?dose oxycontin work better?any help is appreciated thanks in advance

Have you tried Duragesic (fentanyl)patch. That may help and you dont have to take so many pills.

I dont know what the rant is, but I would not want to experience phantom pain, I went thru that in sorts in 1991 after a back surgery that left me numb from the waist down.. and I couldnt feel my feet.. the only reason why I knew I had feet was because I saw them there..
With lots of work and treatment and therapy, I am dealing much better

It sounds like you need other Help in dealing with your condition!

I am totally serious Have you discussed Spinal Stimulators, I have 2 of them and has helped alot!
There are 3 companies that provide stimulators for this treatment
Advanced Bionics (name changed to Boston Scientific neuromodulation)

Medtronics

ANS-MEDICAL

talk to me I would be happy to

idk man...but if its a nerve pain have you tried stuff like neurontin or lyrica, any nerve med or nerve blockers instead of just pain med? methadone probably blocks it bc it was made for heroin addicts so that they can get off of heroin without the side effects. im not sure, but thats my guess.

UPDATE
anyways...that one person answered your question, so i hope that she can help you. good luck, sry i couldnt

The thing is this. The way my mother uses Phantom pain she describes that as people that had their leg amputated and than feel pain in their foot.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE HIGH for an opiate to work! I can already tell your new to this. Do we like the happiness they give, of course but after my years of taking them , I haven't felt a pain pill in years but they take away my pain.

Methadone is filling every pain receptor in your network. If the Methadone is not working it is because you are not on that high of a dose. Be careful with that stuff. The methadone cancels out the intoxicating effects of Oxycodone by keeping your pain receptors filled constantly and over a flatter margin. The other opiates simply cannot penetrate this barrier. In short. This is why they give it to Heroin addicts, to keep the receptors filled so they do not withdraw or get the so-called cravings. However a dose of 5mg's of Methadone and Oxycodone depending on your degree of dependance you should feel something.

Methadone regardless of it's power in reference to keeping all receptors filled peaks very low. Milligram per milligram the Oxycodone peaks higher. It peaks higher anyways. Imagine 100 water hoses with water flowing through them. The water is a representation of your pain the hose a representation of the pain receptor. Now stick a golf ball in the hose and that is the drug blocking the water. (Blocking the pain) Some golf balls stay on longer, some don't. That is the only way I can think of putting it at this moment. Methadone hits all receptors/ Oxycodone hits the primary one's that you can feel quicker, in short but not totally scientifically a good analogy.

As far as people saying pain is your head. Everything is in your head in a sense. If you feel pain and just saying if it fundamentally is not really there but you think you feel it regardless you are in pain.

Incidentally, Methadone was NOT MADE FOR HEROIN ADDICTS. It was made for pain. Under the direction of Herman Goering. He demanded a totally synthetic opiate be produced void of the poppy. If anything can be said that was made for addicts it would be suboxone. It was not until they discovered how long and efficinet Methadone was that they considered it for opiate addiction. ANd that wasn't till years later. If Goering didn't exist there might not have been Methadone.
