Does diet coke really have pesticides in it??

my freinds mom works at coca cola and she said they use pesticides for diet coke is that true?

Yes and no.

Phosphoric acid, which is used as a raw ingredient in sodas and other foods is also used as a base for "green" pesticides.

No, that would put them at risk for lawsuit big time....and could ruin the company.

no but diet coke might taste better with pesticides in it :)

Yes, it is. The product is called Aspartame -- better known as NutraSweet -- and it was originally developed to combat Fire Ants. And, yes, it has been approved by the FDA for human consumption.

When Aspartame breaks down in the body, it is broken down into several chemicals, one of which is formaldehyde.

Formaldehyde is the chemical used to embalm bodies and prepare them for burial. It is also a neurotoxin, which means that it affects the nerves of the body.

The link below will give you a list of articles dealing with the product Aspartame.

.

It may contain a component of a pesticide, but honestly the chemical structures of substances can be so different from one another when mixed with other substances. Aspartame has been shown in lab rats to cause neurological problems, but in humans it is impossible for a human to consume enough diet coke to cause any problems like that seen in lab rats. I've done research and reports on this. So even if your friend is right, doesn't mean diet coke can harm you.

They dont use pesticides in the product. Their product, like every food product, comes from plants and inevitably a minute amount of pesticide gets through the system. You cannot buy any food product that doesnt contain pesticides to some extent.

I use the term 'food' very loosely in relation to Coca Cola products. Junk food might be a better description. I would be far more concerned about what the products were doing to my teeth than anything else.
