Aren't all the pesticides that cities & states spray to kill mosquitos bad for humans as well?

I just finished reading a Yahoo article on how Ohio is having a huge mosquito problem this year due to all the rainfall and as a result they've doubled up on their pesticide sprays. How healthy can it be for the residents of those areas to get a double dose of these chemicals?

I actually live in a "growing" small town, so they don't spray here. But, I always hear on the Nashville News2 when they are spraying certain areas the announcement of the time and they always say to stay inside and keep your pets inside. Especially if you have a medical/breathing condition. Makes me think it is bad for us too.

Yeah, it's not great, the theory is that the quantities are minute enough to not be a threat. I knew someone who worked in mosquito control though. Not pretty walking behind the truck.

It really isn't good. Not to mention the pesticides are now out in the food chain- which tends to end with people at the top. However, having those mosquitoes around to help spread diseases isn't good either. So one way or another they have to be controled.

If possible, I would think importing predators to eat the mosquitoes would be better. Dragonflies come to mind, or some birds and bats.
