Best and easiest lice removal, preferably without pesticides.?

Best and easiest lice removal, preferably without pesticides.?

The easiest way that I found for getting rid of the problem when my kids brought them home from school, was to use hair conditioner. I washed their hair thoroughly. After it had dried completely, I applied hair conditioner to it until it was saturated.(The type for dry hair is best, any brand.) Than I combed the hair with a fine toothed comb, (you can buy them especially for this purpose) and let it dry again. Don't remove the conditioner. Put your kids hair in braids or cut it short until this is over. Reapply the conditioner every time you wash your child's hair. You should not see any more adult lice as they will die on hatching if you have put enough conditioner on the hair. Comb frequently to get rid of the nits on the hair. If the hair is hard to comb, add more conditioner. Once the lice problem is finished with (about 2 weeks), every time you wash your children's (or your own) hair, put conditioner on before the final rinse. It makes the hair shaft too slippery for adult lice to attach their nits. Worked for me. I only had the problem once, with my kids. I was given this bit of advice by a friend who was a hair stylist.

You are very welcome, and thank YOU for the 10 points!! :) Report It

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as "easy" lice removal. However, a non-pesticide approach is by using olive oil. Comb the olive oil through the hair section by section, using a fine tooth comb (not a dryer attachment)and TINY sections (1/8"), examining each section thoroughly. Removing any nits and white egg sacks you see. Cover the hair with a plastic trash bag and heat under a dryer for an hour or so. Keep in mind everything needs to be disinfected. Washing bedding, stuffed animals, etc in hot HOT water and bleach. Then placing them in dryer on the highest setting. You can also seal them in plastic bags for a week to kill the nits and eggs. Then wash. Good luck...its not easy. Be determined and diligent. Doing it right the first time is the best thing to do.

OTC products at the drug store. Also, you're going to need to make sure that you fully disinfect the home (don't forget the sheets, hair brushes, rugs, etc.). You can kill them all you want, but if the home isn't thoroughly cleaned, they will continue coming back.

(Also, not sure if this applies to you, but some school districts such as one in my town do not allow lice as a medically excused absence, and you can find yourself in truancy court if they continue to reinfest. Many of my clients have run into this problem. Sorry for shooting off on a tangent, just something you *may* need to think about!)
Good luck!! :)

ok this is fool proof..

take a can of RAID and close your eyes and mouth, and spray it all over your hair....

*joke*

well, over-heating something can kill lice, so here's what you do.

Put Olive Oil all over your hair (this will prevent permenant damage to your hair, seeing as how it's the healthiest oil, use Extra Virgin Olive Oil, any brand name)

Next take a blow-dryer (preferably one with a comb attachment, you can find them in any chinese-neighborhood-electronics shop, and i think ConAir makes one)

BLOW DRY YOUR HAIR UNDER HIGH HEAT. it's going to get hot to the point where you touch it and it BURNS your hand, THAT IS GOOD! (i suggest you put on a pair of winter leather or cotton gloves)

Make sure you deprive everything in your house of air (i suggest tying everything up in a plastic bag, then tieing that plastic bag with another plastic bag, and doing that until you have 5 plastic bags covering everything, stuff like toys, books, and other things of the sort.

take alllll your combs and BOIL them, (or if you want to be really safe, throw them away and buy new ones(

WASH ALLLLL YOUR BEDSHEETS and clean up the house (use clorox when possible, steam the carpets (just pour boiling water on them and dry them with a blow dryer if you don't want to call the steamers) and make sure you get EVERY single INCH of your place cleaned.

Doing all this won't cost you more then 20$, hey, better safe then sorry.

*or* fast and easy, but Nix Lice removal from your local Pharmacy, it works, but you should wash the bed sheets and bag the goodies like hats, teddy bears, etc..

i was in a domestic violence shelter for women after i was raped and there were kids there who got lice i saw one of the moms using vinegar u put that on the hair and comb through it stinks really bad u keep doing it over and over and it will eventually go away this does work...
