Why when I eat uncooked, pesticide free, cabbage it burns the roof of my mouth? |
It doesn't happen when I eat it cooked. Is this normal or is it an allergy or food sensitivity? cabbage contains a lot of sulfur compounds that are broken down or vaporized during cooking - i actually like raw cabbage! it's really good for you. remember that cabbage is in the same family (Brassicae) as the mustard plant - in fact, cabbage was mustard before it was turned to cabbage by breeders! it's not an allergy. it's cabbage. dont eat it then You probably have a sensitivity or allergy to cabbage. It probably wouldn't be wise to eat any kind of cabbage-cooked or otherwise. Or at least eat very little. It may be affecting you in other ways and the burning is just a way of warning you. You could be getting things from it you are not aware of-diarrhea, headaches, coughing, hives, itchy skin, stuffy nose, itchy eyes, any number of things. And, NO, it's not normal for it to burn the roof of your mouth. |
