Have any of you adults ever had Pertussis (Whooping Cough)? |
I've had a miserable cough for over a month and I've been told I have Pertussis. I didn't realize anyone ever got it anymore! Your right. People usually don't since the DTaP vaccines were discovered. This is the most recent version of the vaccine and is relatively permanent. The shot you were probably given was the DPT vaccine and is less effective and, I think, requires a booster shot every ten years(maybe just for tetanus). Also, the vaccine doesn't have a 100% success rate but the symptoms are less severe than if you weren't immunized. |
