A person i live with has pertussis (whooping cough) and im pregnant and have a 6 month old, what are the risks? I would check with your doctor for treatment. I would also find somewhere else to stay until your roomate is healed. Good luck to you. If you and your baby have been vaccinated you should be ok. I would make you Dr.s aware of the situation and follow their advise. Whooping cough is extremely contagious, but since the person has been diagnosed with the disease, you have most likely already been exposed. I would seriously recommend staying elsewhere until the person has reached the time where doctors no longer consider them to be contagious. They can be given an antibiotic which will not clear up their symptoms, but will make it so they are no longer contagious. It is dangerous for a child as young as yours to be exposed to the disease and it can even be fatal. My daughter contracted whooping cough when she was four months old and had to be hospitalized. Good luck. |
