What personality disorders will a person experience if he has been a victim of homosexuality during childhood?

Sufferers of sexual molestation as children typically manifest the same later effects as other victims of non-sexual child abuse, and they also tend to perpetuate the cycle by abusing other children (though, contrary to some popular misconception, while they will very often be physically and verbally abusive to their own children, they do NOT always sexually abuse them). One frequent and major issue which affects children subjected to molestation is sex addiction. However, only a small proportion of children molested by same-sex pedophiles grow up to be "gay".

Note that sexual abuse by same-sex and opposing-sex pedophiles have substantially the same impact. Also note that sexual abuse of minors by homosexuals in a "well adjusted environment devoid of stigma from being homosexual" is statistically negligible.

it depends on each individual. i have seen a ew people become bi-polar, develop post tramatic stess disorder or even serious suicidal thoughts

Any of them. Some believe personality disorders are born out of the failure to develop a "real self" during childhood. This sort of trauma could interfere with that. In which way, it depends on the person and the developmental stage in which the trauma occured.

Most common would probably be Borderline.

Some people won't be affected at all, others will never recover, it depends so much on the individual. If it is you, seek medical advice. If it's a mate, get them some help. Even counselling might allieviate some of the problems. Talking things through is often a great healer. Good luck x

if the child was given a lot of support at the time it could be the best thing for it,
and it depends on the childs personality,
a lot of help and suport at all times could be very helpful and letting the child know that it wasnt their fault.
without this the child could become either withdrawn or violent

Yes, it depends on how strong a person is emotionally and a lot of that depends upon the strength of character that his parents help provide him with through their love & devotion!!!
Some may survive mostly unscathed, others may be "basket cases" and for the most part, most will have some emotional baggage. But one can persevere and pull one's self up by one's own bootstraps, by KNOWING that this was NOT their FAULT in any way, shape, or form! A child is completely FREE of sin until 7 years of age and even beyond that when the child has no power over the situation!!! So know that you are no more at fault that I am because the mailman asked me for a kiss and as a trusting girl, who did as her elders asked -- I did as he asked. Then he grabbed me and began biting my lips, wouldn't let me go and probably would have raped me if it hadn't been for all the noise that both I and my dog were making (I was crying & begging him to "Let me GO !!!" . Thank GOD for my wonderful dog !!!!!!!!
Was I at fault? No! I was 11 !!! I didn't even know what sex was, but I knew what he was doing was wrong! And then after he left I felt shame for kissing him! I hid in my closet when the company owner came to my house for my statement!!! That's how ashamed I felt!! I felt stupid too!!! But my parents NEVER ONCE blamed me!!! And they were there to protect me, altho in those days we didn't talk about such things openly, I still felt their love & compassion, never blame! But I didn't grow up hating or fearing men -- quite to the contrary, I like and enjoy men, they are usually open and genuine -- unlike most women I've tried to befriend !!! I'd LOVE to have some women friends, but they always try to compete with me and other women and are "catty" and hurtful, where men usually either like you and you know it or they don't & you know it!!! But off course there are exceptions to that -- I have met and been close friends with 4 women in my life (but that's not very many -- that's why I said what I said), so back to the subject: pull strength from your soul, your family, your friends and from God(whoever you make that to be) and may your suffering be lifted from you!!! Trust in yourself and push past this. It's not WHO YOU ARE, it's something that happened TO YOU & IT was NOT your fault !!!
Bless you, Aunt Barbie
P.S. -- My own son became sociopathic to the point where he has destroyed his parents lives and his childrens' lives and his own life! Not to mention the life of the girl he was married to. Unfortunately the STUPID LAW of this Land will not allow parents to provide help for a child who is over 18 years of age! A person is ill, the parents and others know it, but we aren't allowed to make him get help! So, he is allowed to destroy everyone's life!!! My son had NO TRAUMA in his life to cause this. I believe (100%) that he inherited it from the paternal side of his family as I've seen the same symptoms in several members of my husband's family. So as you see it doesnt take trauma to cause mental problems, and those who have had trauma don't necessarily develope mental illness!!! I believe you can overcome this trauma, just forgive yourself, put the blame where it belongs and know that no one blames you!!! Lean on your friends, family, & God and give that part of you life up to God and put it behind you as best you can! Again, BLESS YOU !

There is a strong correlation between childhood sexual abuse and Borderline Personality Disorder. BPD is sometimes viewed as a variant of Post Traumatic Sress Disorder, which would perhaps explain this.

Although I think it's wrong to assume that just because a person has been abused they will go on to develop a personality disorder. Whilst many people in such situations do need professional help, the majority of them don't go on to be diagnosed with illnesses such as BPD or any other personality disorder.

You can find more info on BPD at the following links:

There is also info on other personality disorders at the following link.

(These are from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual IV (DSM IV) This is the book used by the American Psychiatric Association by which they diagnose mental illness
(The personality disorders are listed from number 301.20 - 301.83)

Would you refer to someone who was sexually abused by someone of the opposite sex as having been a victim of heterosexuality during childhood?

I think you mean a victim of child abuse. Homosexuals aren't sexually attracted to children they are sexually attracted to adults of the same gender.

i take it you mean a victim of child sexual abuse from a man and you were a boy

i was a sexual abuse victim

i have post traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, i find i can not concentrate on things because i am constantly counting and blocking things out in my head, panic attacks, anxiety chronic depression, and paranoia but i think i am one of the lucky ones

some people end up suicidal, they could be bi polar, or schitzophrenic

if this question is about you please seek some help from your doctor straight away the sooner you get help the better the rest of your life will be

i am on medication now to help with all these things

do you think you are poorly now

a psychiatrist might be the right answer for you

i am thinking about you you can email if you want too

best wishes

a person will not definately experience personality disorders as a result of this experience. it depends on the individual, experiences and the circumstances in adolesence and adulthood.
