Possibly. If someone is a narcissist, then it is probably tied to low self-esteem. In reality they think very little of themselves, that's why they need to make everyone else look bad and bolster themselves up. This person is in dire need of intense counseling and a good dose of humility.

A person with this disorder truly is unable to relate to others, other than through his own eyes. He is not able to be a good father, husband, or friend, as everything in life is about him. Usually they are also Passive-Aggressive, so it is no fun being yoked with them.
If you are in such a relationship, seek counseling, but not to change him, but to be able to endure or move on. This isn't about you, other than seeing why you chose such a person to be in a relationship with.
