Can losing a mother (as a result of death) at age 13 cause anxiety or personality disorders?

My mother died from cancer whenever I was 13, and being a female, that is a touchy age. Can this cause long-term issues with anxiety, etc.? I feel like it has affected my adult life somehow.

my mother died when i was young and my sister was about 13 and she is just fine

maybe

I think it can because 13 is a young age and so it hits hard. So because it happened at a young age I think it has affected your adult life

Absolutly! I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Not having that figure in your life to guide you and make informed choices can effect you alot! There are things that we need to learn from our parents, that's why it's important to have 2 (one of each) Dads give us girls the idea of what to look for in a man and they can keep us safe (most of the time) and moms show us how to do things like cook and raise children and if that guy is right for us.. So yeah it obviously has has an effect on you with her not being there. SO Sorry

a lose like that at any age can cause people to go in to a depression wich carries the symptoms you describe i would ask some one to get you professional help just so you know i suffer from depression and know the symptoms very well

Yes, that can cause problems now. My question to you is how old are you know. Do you ever feel as though you got were able to cope with the death of your mother. 13 is a very sensitive age and it could have a negative impact on your life as an adult. I would recommend that you seek a therapist even if it is post traumtic stress causing your anxiety it there is treatment to help you cope with the anxiety.

yes it can. but having said that many things can cause such disorders. i have the exact problem you are talking about and its just something that has to be worked through. never give up, things will be better if you let them be.

At 13, females begin feeling as if they need a motherly figure to look up to. Puberty begins, and attraction also begins. Knowing right from wrong, is usually taught by a mother. If you didn't have someone to look up to, then maybe anxiety problems could have arose. If you feel like you have anxiety problems, you should seek medical attention. Depression and anxiety isn't a game.

Go to panicsurvivor.com and read some of the stories. See if you can relate to them. You obviously have sorrow and other feelings about your mother, but I would say anxiety disorders are usually a combination of a lot of things. Read the site. It's a good one. It could take you days.

mainstream psychology will say yes. mainstream has always put an "everyone else's fault" on pretty much anything. im a bad person because my dad beat me, im bad because i was sexually abused, im bad because i was born when mars was in the 2nd house of leo. its all bull crap. memories whether good or bad will help you grow. learn from mistakes, enjoy the good times, and take responsibility for your actions.
in other words, **** gonna happen. just make the most of it.

it can. to some sources but the best thing to do is not worry about anexity and eating disorders. think about happy stuff. DONT THINK ABOUT THAT ALL THE TIME

I just sent you an e-mail. I can relate.
