What's the most common personality disorder? |
I have a book on personality disorders. I was wondering, among people who are into psychology as much as I, which disorder you feel is the most common. I wonder if it's narcissism. I have ample information on that particular one. anxiety disorders - phobias alone rank #1 as far as how many people have them I think it may be obsessive compulsive disorder. chronic liars, ego-centrics, obsessive compulsive, parnoids (in that order) PEOPLE ASKING STUPID QUESTIONS Look in the Diagnaositc Statistical Manual of psychology. It might or might not mention it in there. Paranoid schizophrenic. I think the most common would be body dysmorphic disorder. That's when people see themselves as drastically different than what everyone else sees. For example, a person with anexoria/bulimia might see themselves as grotesquely fat when they are rail thin. I think phobias followed by non-specific neurosis then BDP and OCD. Obsessive-compulsive personality disorder is the most common personality disorder, affecting about 8 percent of Americans. |
