Does the sickness called MPD(multiple personality disorder) really exists?can it be cured?how?

MPD(multiple personality discorder) also known as DID(dissociative identity disorder), is a controversial topic among psychiatrists. some of them believe that it does not exist. on the other hand, for yrs. many doctors,hospitalsand social services organizations have been treating patients who suffer from MPD.some studies estimate that between 5 and 15 percent of psychiatric patients are afflicated with it. current statistics from the dept. of justice indicate that approximately one third of juvenile victims of sexual abuse are children under 6 yrs. of age,and that one out of three girls is sexually abused before the age of 18. most reported cases of incest involve a father and daughter. a research project in 3 countries suggests that MPD affects 1 percent of the gen. population. dissociative disorders are often misdiagnosed and studies have shown that on ave., people with MPD have spent 7 yrs. seeking treatment, prior to an accurate diagnosis.

yes it is real and no it can not be cured. it can be managed with proper treatment from a compentent mental health team.

The sydrome most certainly exists. I dont understand how some can say it doesnt exist when people clearly have it. Thats like saying "I dont believe in the flue" when clearly, people get the flue. Report It

There's no truth that it cannot be cured. Even in the earliest literature about it, people became integrated, and some clients still choose to become fully integrated as an outcome of their therapy, although all do not choose that outcome. Report It

i have an older family Friend who has it. the best thing is medicine and therapy. but theres no cure. there's going to always be a constant struggle to be the dominant personality. the treatments dont make it go away. it just quiets everyone up for a whole so the person can live a more normal and anxiety free life.

it is for real,it can only be manages, not cured by meds, counceling etc. you sohlud look it up on phsych pages

i wont believe the existence of this syndrome unless i personally meet a sufferer........just novels & movies dont help
