I am on peritoneal dialysis and sometimes the effluent smells funny. Why? |
It smells yeasty. It's hard to say what the source of the odor is, if you are smelling the chemical of the effluent, or if the odor is related to an infection. Both of those are possibilities. If you note the odor and the solution is cloudy, then infection is more likely. The best person to evaluate this would be your nephrologist. There really shouldn't be a noticeable odor, and not being able to actually smell it, it's impossible to say otherwise. Sorry. Because it's effluent! What more reason do you want? Do you think that you're all sunshine and buttercups inside? |
