Quetions about Periodontal disease?

I had a regular teeth checkup, the dentist told me I had periodontal dease. so last week, I went to Hanson Place Dental at Metrotech in Brookly, they gave me a complete check up, and told me I need to do the surgery, to open the gum,and clean it. And I also need to do bone graft. The cost is 2600 for the surgery, and bone graft is 290*4=1160( for 4 bone graft), so is it too expensive? That's a lot money for me!

Actually, I am with Healthfirst in NY, but it doesn't cover the surgery, so can I switch to another Insurance company that government support .

Please get a second opinion. Look for a periodontist with a dental laser. The procedure you are talking about may have other options with better results, and a lot less pain. Periodontal disease is serious and has now been linked with heart disease. It is important to follow through with treatment. But again I recommend you always get a second opinion. Please talk to a perio person with a dental laser.

I assume you are seeing a periodontist for your gum disease. Given your description of what is being done, and the area you are in, the fee is reasonable. It is a lot of $$, but better than having no teeth.
