Anyone is perimenopause think theyr are going crazy???

Hi, I am 48, and have been in perimenopause for a few years. These last 2 years so far have been the worst. sometimes. I feel totally normal, and at other times, i may feel like crying, and of course I do, or i may feel really irritable. I also have a really hard time sleping through the night, and have had for years. I usualy wake up around 2 or 3 AM, and it takes hours to get back to sleep, and then it may be only for a few minutes. my mind races all the time, When someone makes a suggestion that maybe i should do something, or that something needs to be doing, i just jump on it, and do it like crazy, and later find out that no one ever really wanted me to do anything, it was just a thought. I have tried celexa, seroquel, and have been on clonazepam for 2 years now. Is there any one else out there in the same position? I tried therapy for a year and a half, it didn't do much good, I haven't tried HRT or bio identical hormones. is any one just toughing it out ?

I think there are millions of us going through menopause so know you are not alone. You like me will find that terribly refreshing!

I have a dear friend who toughed it out. Sadly she spent about 4 years locking herself away from everyone due to the side effects you are speaking of. It was all just to embarrassing for her. In fact things are still very difficult as she refuses HRT due to the possible cancer risks. Her health at best is not very good so I can't say if she's done herself any favors in the long run.

I however am on HRT, a medium dose, which I have now cut in half :). My thoughts were that if I went insane (which is what it felt like) then who cared if I had cancer! I was afraid I would downed from the night sweats, or the tears. I am not generally a tearful person but it got to the point that a cute commercial would make me cry... come on... this had to stop before the white jacket went on and life as I knew it went away... erratic impulsive behavior, erratic emotions, never a decent nights sleep, hot flashes, depression, panic attacks... pain...

God's ultimate joke on woman... we should be able to drift out of this phase of our life easily, with grace and dignity, what a load that is!

So .... bring on the hormones!!! I now don't have to change the sheets twice a night, commercials no longer make me cry... Geez. I'm not OVERLY impulsive... lol... I have regained MOST of my emotional intelligence, those awful hot flashes have gone away, and I can function like a relatively NORMAL human being! YEA TEAM!

I know exactly what you mean by you think you're going nuts...it is just awful.
I am in the same boat as you...
Just a short while ago I had a proceedure done called endometrial ablation...
Have you been to your ob-gyn lately?
Try researching the topic on the internet and find out if there are any foods that you should eat or any vitamins that you can take to help with the symptoms...I know by taking a lot of the B vitamins, that helps...it's really best to talk with your doc about it though...there may be something else going on.

I dont believe you are going crazy, I just turned 42 and I to might be dealing with a few if these issues that you are going thru, but its hard to tell? I to get irritable, one minute Im fine and the next I just feel like Im gonna lose it! Im really scared of going thru my midlife changes and I know that I am a few years away from it, but I also know that their are ways of making this transition more pleasant, such as excersise and eating right, doing yoga, meditation helps alot to, so I hear? Basically I just wanted to let ya know, you are not alone, let,s not let menopause get the best of us and make us miserable, Im gonna take it day by day and get thru it like I do all of lifes challenges and changes, with stride, Good Luck!
