Is 39 too young to start perimenopause (sorry about spelling)? I've been having hot flashes lately.? |
In the last few weeks I seem to be having hot flashes and what appears to be night sweats. I will be 40 in July and I had my first period when I was 12. I still have my cycle but sometimes it's really heavy and I get cramps like I used to when I was in my teens. Ladies only, anyone else having or had symptoms like this? Please no smart comments, thanks! Hey, No, menopause can start in the 20s, its rare but it happens; I was told by my doc that the age you start peri-menopause can correlate to the age your mom was when she started. If you can, check with her. Also, there is a blood test that your doc can do to check your hormone levels. If they are dropping then you will know that is what it is. If that's not the case, then it will be worthwhile to find out what is going on. Never fear! If it is indeed peri-menopause it will all be just fine. :) You sound like you are going through what I went through around that age. I had the heavy periods, hot flashes, irregular periods, etc. I did go through menopause early then. Around the age of 44. I am so embarrassed of this, but I guess others are having the same problem. I think that having a lot of stress contributed to it also. I feel for ya, but there is hope. |
