Extreme weight gain over past 3-5 months. Many tests. No answers?

I am 35 years old in fairly good health, however in the last 3-5 months I have gained 35 pounds.Eating less now than ever in my life. I have thyroid nodules however my thyroid tests have all come out normal1.3 .I have also had perimenopause and pitutary gland tests also normal.I am not pregnant, and my blood sugar is good.if any one has any clue of what may be happening or anything that may help, please help me out .I also have back problems(2 previous surgeries) and this is causing real problems for me physically as well as emotionally.Thank you

it could be that you just dont get any excersize..

or

your water level could be up... check if your feet are swolen.... they could be swollen with water....or your ankles...

Everyone's biology is different so this might be normal for you. Your metabolism may be slowing down. I am 22 and I have a superfast metabolism. I can eat whatever I want and if I do regular exercise, I stay in the same shape.

My dad broke his back and has had 7 surgeries. He walks the treadmill everyday for 30-60 minutes.

If you eat less, you lose some weight. You should really have a good diet, a balanced diet.

Eat a lot of vegetable and fruits and nuts. Eat smaller portions every 2-4 hours.

The more we age the more our metabolism slows down. Eat 6 small meals a day to speed it up. If you skip meals or eat very little it will be stored as fat. Check out the Michael Thurmonds 6 week body makeover. It's a little pricey for the kit but I lost 60 lbs in 10 weeks and all I did was eat all day long, and walked an hour a day. It melted off so fast and my high blood pressure and back problems are gone. Just check it out and read what it has to offer. Good luck.
p.s. if you want I.M me and I'll look for the questionaire, its to find out your body type. I'm body type A. If your the same I'll email you my diet plan.

Have them test you for Cushing's disease/syndrome. Gaining a lot of weight quickly, even though you're eating correct foods and portions, could be because of your cortisol levels. With Cushing's disease/syndrome there is an abnormality with your cortisol levels, which leads to rapid weight gain. Cushing's is pretty uncommon and the doctor might not consider it, but I would ask to be tested for it.

With regards to your thyroid - did they check your FT3, FT4 and also your TSH.

Men get tested for only T3, T4 and TSH, however being a women we need our Free levels tested as these give the most accurate readings due to our hormones.

Also, they all need to be tested as, if only the TSH was tested, while it can be within range, it is not a accurate reading as the FT3 and FT4 can show the levels being not within range.

Extreme weight gain in a short period of time would explain this, also the emotional aspect as thyroid disease does affect emotion, weight gain/loss, metabolism, heart rate, basically everything.

Did they tell if the nodules were hot or cold?

Also, did they check your adrenals? You may want to ask that this also be checked.

Hope this helps.
