What are some safe foods for a peptic ulcer? |
Several of these answers were REALLY good, so I had a very difficult time picking just 1 and want to thank all of you for contributing, Thanks! Cereals You're welcome. Make sure the juice doesn't contain citric acid, which can actually agitate the ulcer. I recommend Lily Of The Desert products and the gel in particular. Their aloe vera juice comes in different flavors. Report It Try Reliv products. Check out my web site www.mybalancednutrition.com and see what perfectly balanced nutrition can do for you. Eat 5 to 6 small meals a day instead of 3 larger meals. It is important that you avoid overeating. Frequent, smaller meals will be more comfortable and easier on the stomach than two or three large meals a day. I would like to recommend some supplements for healing such as Aloe Vera (pure) and Bromelain If you like chamomile tea, drinking it can help soothe the inflammation. Raw manuka honey can help protect and heal the ulcer (it's expensive and hard to find, though. Look online for it.) Bananas can also help protect it from acid. Melons I've found to be safe. I don't think they have any acid. If they do, it's certainly a tiny amount. Vegetables are generally safe. No onions, though. Have you been tested for an H. Pylori infection? Research it, it's the number one cause for ulcers..Make sure you get a blood and stool test for it...It's a two week treatment with antibiotics...Just make sure you replenish the good bacteria when the treatment is done.. Eat several small meals a day to avoid a heavy burden on your system. Plenty of fiber. The "bland" diet was once considered and thought to be the safest for ulcer patients, increased fiber has been shown to repair ulcers. Focus on soluble fiber, such as oats. Vit K has also been shown to repair damage from gastric juices. Eat several servings of green leafy veg. a day and drink lots of green juices. Cabbage juice has remarkable healing powers for ulcers, drink a quart a day. It may be diluted with water or carrot juice. Kefir or some live cultured yogurt every day. Zinc is healing to the digestive tract too, From pumpkin seeds and whole grains. And garlic. Aloe vera juice and slippery elm along with chamomile tea. |
