Transvaginal ultrasound vs Pelvic exam? |
Hi, I am 33 years ago and been suffering from brown spotting for over a month. I went to my gyn today and he did the pelvic exam. He said that everything appears to be normal and wanted to give me hormone pills. I'm in the process of getting pregnant so I really want to stay away from bc bills. However, I am dying to know what's wrong with me. I already had another dr performed the pelvic exam and blood test and also pelvic ultrasound. They all came back normal. However, I want a second opinion so i went to him and I request transvaginal ultrasound because i was told it gives you more detail. But then he told me that it's useless because he already checked my pelvic and it seems ok. He can't feel any cysts or fibroids He told me that he can order biopsy for me to see if there's any abnormal cells. My question is can cysts and fibroids or even polyps detect from pelvic exam? I heard lots of people found out from ultrasound but not pelvic exam. Please help Yes, sometimes cysts and fibroids can be felt on a pelvic exam but not always. |
