Pelvic Sonogram?

I haven't had my period in 5 months and finally come on and the doctor wants me take a pelvic sonogram. Why? Have anyone took at pelvic sonogram?

To see if there is a physical reason for the amenorrhea.

They are probably checking for the size and presence of cysts on your ovaries. Maybe something physical is causing your lack of a period.

Yes I have had one and it is a bit uncomfortable,It don't hurt or anything like that. You will Breeze through it.

Yes I've had them a few times. There is nothing to it. They just put like a small wand up your vagina and it shows them an image of the inside of your uterus and also can show the ovaries. Doesn't hurt! This will show if your uterus is enlarged or if there could be polyps or growths. If you end up having a uterine biopsy in the office that is quite different, take some Tylenol or something ahead of going. Hopefully you won't have to do that! Good Luck.

I've had one too and they don't hurt and aren't really that uncomfortable.

My doctor was looking for fibroids and cysts. He also wanted to find out how thick my lining was.
