Pelvic exam and pap smear?

When doctors do a pelvic exam and pap smear and everything comes back negative, thats good right? I know that sounds dumb but i have hpv, so i assuming my system took care of it for now. And does a pap smear show all std's? Or which one does it show? My doctor checked for all signs, discharge, discolored and pain/ tenderness. My lower abdonmin was hurting and since i am young he said that stds are the first thing to check for. is this true?

if it only showed up abnormal cells why is it when i had a yeast infection it showed up? I know bacteria can come up because i had a yeast infection come up before. But beyoned the yeast infection can anything else show up? I am not hear to get silly answers, i am here for advise and comfort.

I talked quiet extensivley with my doctor about this. Btw I live in Canada. My Dr. told me that even if the pap comes back neg for abnormal cells you can still pass it on. I think Dr.s don't act too concerned about this because 80% of people will have an hpv infection in their lifetime. He said there was no real tests to detect hpv if we can't see it. I just spoke with him only a couple of months ago. So protect yourself and others please. It is your responsiblity to let future partners know that you have had an hpv outbreak otherwise if they get something and were never told about the posiblities they will be very angry with you and I have even heard of people sueing each other because their partner gave them an std they knew they had and didnt tell them. Hope things work out for you.

Plus my Dr. said that blood tests will not detect this infection.

A pap smear test for abnormal cells. Std's are checked by a blood test called a VDRL A pap test is checking for cancer and pre-cancer type cells.
