Pelvic MRI? |
I have to have a pelvic MRI tomorrow for a right mass (think its a fibroid) and I have a few questions. How long will it take?Do u have to be completely still for that long? Will i need to have any injections(contrast)? Will i get the results right then do they tell you what they found? Thanks YOU WILL MOST LIKLY HAVE DYE.this will go through an IV they will take a few scans without it then they will inject the dye ,it dont hurt ,just gives you a very warm feeling all over, your compleat test should only last about 30 min ,depends on how much scanning they need to do,and NO! they usually dont give you any results ,it has to be read first, they will give your DR. the results as soon as they can, dont worrie ,if they see something that needs attention right away, your DR will let you know ASAP,good luck with your test ,hope its nothing bad, KATHY A MRI's are not painful but you do have to lie very still. Depending on what your Dr. ordered you may have an MRI with or without contrast. Typically MRI's take 20 to 30 min for each area scanned. The person taking the MRI will be a rad-tech and they will not be able to tell you any results; your MRI will be read by a radiologist and then a report will be given to your Dr and he/she will let you know what the results are. (If you have fibroids look into obliteration instead of surgery) Good luck and try not to worry. Hi...please don't worry about the MRI. its not going to hurt you as AERDNA2U has written.you can get you result orally from the radiologigt doing the procedure.don't worry. |
