Bell's palsy in pediatrics what causes it? Bell Palsy is paralysis or weakness of the muscles supplied by the facial nerve, typically unilaterally, due to inflammation and swelling of the facial nerve within the facial canal. Affects all ages but most common over 30 years old. Could be caused by some kind of stimulous that can cause inflammation of the facial nerve within the facial canal or exposure to cold. Most likely it is from a viral infection. |
