MY daughter has a grey tooth what causes this? |
My 12 year old daughter has all her adult teeth. One of her front teeth has a slight greyish tint. Does that indicate it is rotting? I did not give her flouride like I should have. All the info I find is for pediatrics. Any info would help! It could be from certain types of medication. It could be no fluoride . . . more kids now a-days have not so perfect teeth because of bottled water . . make an appointment for her to visit the dentist. if she goes every 6 months, the dentist may have information on the change noted in the chart. a 12 yr old is a pediatric patient. 12 yr old? dont know i thought that was from rotting cuz their parents were drug users.... just what i have always thought.... but 12? take her to the dentist , does she brush and floss? yes, teeth usually turn that color when they are rotting, you should take her to the dentist there are many types of medicine that u could of took late in your pregnancy like doxycyclin or aclorvin The roots are probably dead and this is causing the tooth to begin to rot. See the dentist soon. thats sounds alot like a cavity..i would get it checked out by doctor and make sure she is getting floride in her water or by tablet form You should have it checked out. That is a sign of rotting. A root canal might be able to fix that A dentist is your best bet for an answer here. I have 2 kids who hve had broken teeth replaced with crowns...and my daughter's front tooth has lasted about 10 years but is now darkening. WE believe that the root of her tooth is dying and she will need a root canal and veneers put on her tooth. I hope that you find out the cause. My daughter had a brown one. It was very sensitive to hot and cold. After several opinions I am leaning toward the hereditary theory. No matter the outcome, get off the guilt trip about the fluoride. Dentist can seal this and protect it better Probably a med or antibiotic she had to take while her teeth were developing....did she have a serious illness as a child? If your child was ever given tetracycline for an infection, that can also cause discoloration, giving the tooth that greyish color. However, it would be a good idea to have a dentist look at the tooth & give you a diagnosis rather than depending on people you don't know to try to diagnose it sight unseen. My daughter bumped her front tooth and it turned grey, yes it was dying. She had a root canal and a crown put on it before she lost the whole tooth. It is usually a sign or root shock, trauma or decay. She should certainly see the dentists. I have one tooth which went gray several years ago. Dentist did an xray & said that I had probably hit my tooth on something causing a shock/ trauma to the root. The root however has not died & tooth is still intact. Root canal is last option once the root has actually died (which it has not yet done) it causes me no pain, but is unsightly. teeth whitening will not lighten a gray tooth, as this gray color comes from within, not like stains that sit upon the enamel. To keep her teeth she will of course need regular dentist visits and if her root has actually died, she will need a root canal. The tooth may have suffered some trauma. |
