Peanut allergy? Help please, emergency!?

my mother just had a peaunutbutter sandwich. She had a reaction. She has never had a peaunut allergy. What can it be? Can it be the type of peaunut butter? My father is taking her to the emidicenter, but what is it?

People develop allergies all the time. Sometimes you grow out of them, sometimes you get new ones. It is normal. She may have been allergic to the bread or something in it too.
I never used to be able to use any creams or lotions except baby ones because i would get hives. Now, I am able to use almost any one I want. Certain ones I react to, but not as bad as a reaction.

It may sound funny but you will not have an allergic reaction to some thing you have not been exposed to.

For babies that seem to have been born with them the mother was exposed to them during pregnancy.

For adults they can get an allergy at any time during there life.

For myself I have taken this one kind of medication all of my life (it is for a sick stomach) and one day last year I had to rushed to the E.R.

If the Dr's say it was the peanut butter she should stay away from all peanut products even peanut oil and if she goes to restaurants make sure they did not use peanut oil when cooking. Also watch other nuts.

For allergic reactions each time you are exposed your reaction is worse more severe. And over time it can become life threatening.

Most people with nut or seafood or bee allergies carry an epi pen for emergencies

I know on the Health Canada site there is allot of info on Allergies most likely the U.S. Health site will as well
or you can check out web MD just type that into google or the mayo clinic

I hope your mom is OK and this info helps

You cannot bet for sure.Cause people who had no history of allergy to a particular allergen may develop allergy to it anytime.Maybe its not the peanut butter but something else in it which might be responsible.

Since your dad is taking her to the emidicenter, they will be able to tell you best. Allergies change frequently (since the body gets a whole new set of cells approximately every seven years), so she could have developed a new one to peanut butter.
