Nutmeg and peanut allergy?

I'm allergic to peanuts, nut, walnuts, all the different nuts and was just wondering does that mean I'm allergic to nutmeg too? I have never been able to figure that out, and I can't find any websites that talk about it. I've never eaten nutmeg just in case, but want to know if I can.

My husband is allergic to all the nuts but has been able to eat nutmeg. Remember everyone is different though. Nutmeg is not a nut, it is a seed of an edible fruit where nuts are the specific seed pod.

The nutmegs Myristica are a genus of evergreen trees indigenous to tropical southeast Asia and Australasia. They are important for two spices derived from the fruit, nutmeg and mace. Report It

Mace within nutmeg fruitNutmeg is the actual seed of the tree, roughly egg-shaped and about 20-30 mm long and 15-18 mm wide, and weighing between 5 and 10 grams dried, while mace is the dried "lacy" reddish covering or arillus of the seed. Report It

Several other commercial products are also produced from the trees, including essential oils, extracted oleoresins, and nutmeg butter The pericarp (fruit/pod) is used in Grenada to make a jam called Morne Delice. Report It

In Indonesia, the fruit is sliced finely, cooked and crystallised to make a fragrant candy called manisan pala ("nutmeg sweets").
The most important species commercially is the Common or Report It

Fragrant Nutmeg Myristica fragrans, native to the Banda Islands of Indonesia; it is also grown in the Caribbean, especially in Grenada.
Other species include Papuan Nutmeg M. argentea from New Guinea, and Bombay Nutmeg M. malabarica from India; Report It

both are used as adulterants of M. fragrans products.
My son has an airbourne nut and tree nut allergy he isn't allergic to nutmeg but he is allergic to sunflower seeds and sunflower oil Report It

I can't remember where I read it,but nutmeg it not considered a nut (neither is coconut). My daughter is allergic (severely) to all nuts and has had food seasoned with nutmeg w/o incident.
