Is there a cure for severe peanut allergy? |
my 3yo son is really allergic to peanuts to the point where he could die if he eats a peanut or anything containing them. is there a cure or does anyone know of any studies trying to find a cure. since finding out i hate leaving him anywhere just in case somebody gives him a peanut butter sandwitch or something. Some of the advice is frightening. You are right to take this seriously as an error in judgment could prove fatal. Penicillin is of no value nor any snake oil treatments. The sound advice was the med alert bracelet and educating teachers and keeping alert as to school lunches. Peanuts can be found in cookies or in the form of peanut oil. Education is key here and you must let any sitter or anyone who potentially could give him lunch. Benedryl should be kept on your person and car at all times. Never hesitate to ask if peanuts are in any recipe including Chinese dishes. Vigilance and preparation are your best medicine. there is no cure. give him a bit of penicillin no, you simply have to control him, get him a medical allert bracelet or necklace, and tell everyone he visits how viloently allergic he is. yes cleansing the body with detoxes i suggest dr.shultzes cleanses and change to an all organic diet it's proven to work. therer isnt a cure yet... but if he is at a nursery school then you must out up signs on the teachers class rooms not to give him anything comtaining peanuts as he is allergic with his photograph, i know they did that at a school I am allergic to peanuts, and when I was 3 yo my situation was similar to your sons. But, for me it naturally decreased. As of yet there is no cure, just prevention. my aunt Luna taught me this song to sing whenever i have an allergic reaction to peanuts it makes everything all better. there is no cure. it is possible that he may grow out of the allergy. All studies are considered VERY controversal by the food allergy community. I would NOT put my severely peanut allergic child in one. I have a severe nut allergy also. So far there isn't a cure except avoidance. His body actually lacks what it takes to metabolize the allergen in the nut so he must avoid them at all cost. This is not a regular allergy like dust or pollen or even milk. This type of allergy is like a poison and the nut being that poison. This one is deadly and not to experimented with. You have to educate your son now and tell him not to take food from anyone without your permission. You have to teach him his safe foods that a 3 year old understands IE. apple, grapes, bananas etc. No prepared foods unless someone can read you the package over the phone. Ice cream is a common place for nuts, that one got me in the hospital! (Mine is Cashew) I have never heard of out growing a nut allergy so be careful.. I had my first allergy attack when I was 8 and told NEVER to eat them again. I did by accident when I was 44 and I was in a dangerous situation for almost 15 days. I was on the internet for days trying to find an antidote or cure and all the places said that there isn't one. The medicine (steroids) is very dangerous too and can hurt your heart. All you can do is make sure that everybody is careful around your kid and that you trust him only with people you know. Sorry I know this is bad news. :( |
