How long does it take for the symptoms of a peanut allergy reaction to go away?

mild reaction, tightness in the chest, throat swollen, mouth swollen, cough, etc

GREETINGS, usually the first 20-30 minutes are the worst, if you survived that long, it will get better. Usually 24 hours to get all out of your system, you might have upset stomach, the trots, maybe headache tomorrow. If not better tomorrow, go to the ER, try some benedryl or any antihistimine tonight to help it feel better.

depends how serious

It should be better within afew days. The hives should subside by then. Your doctor could give you prednisone and that usually sppeds up the side effects from an allergy. They should also prescribe you an epi-pen
