Twinject epi pen? peanut allergies?

I babysit 2 girls who have peanut allergies. They use twinject epi pens in case of an allergic reaction and I watched the training video and practiced with the demonstrator twinject. Does any one who has had to actually use the twinject know if it is as easy as the instructions say or have any tips for kids with peanut allergies.

Yes it's easy to use, just follow the directions exactly then call 911 immediately. Do not think that because you gave them the epi they will be ok.

Remember that peanut allergies are very dangerous. Even inhaled peanut dust can trigger an anaphylatic episode. Some foods are prepared with peanut oil so you have to be very careful what they eat and where it comes from. Don't trust places that tell you the food was not prepared with peanuts, I've seen far too many people arrest.

Last but not least, NEVER drive your children to the ER if you suspect they are having an allergy attack, always call 911. Children compensate for long periods of time and you may think it's safe to drive them, but they crash fast. Take an AHA CPR class asap especially since you are watching kids with special needs.

no

Epi pens are easy, pull the pin and stab away! general for the thigh or butt. not much too it, as far as the kids go, don't give um peanuts :P

Also, don't touch peanuts and then touch something in the house. I've had horrible reactions because I touched a drawer handle, and someone touched it after touching nuts, I then I rubbed my eye or something, and had a reaction. I have an EpiPen, but I've never used it. The only time I needed it, I went straight to the doctor and they gave it to me, plus steriods for like 2 weeks. (That was after I took benadryl and it didn't work, then I used my inhaler and that didn't work either...)

i have on but have never had to use one, i have been shown how to do it, it is really easy it goes in the butt or upper leg. just make sure there is not to much fabric in the way kids cloths should be fine but make sure there is nothing in the pockets then just press it on to the area to be injected and bam your done. don't worry about it if it happens that you need to use one just act like you are sitting there watching the video and you will remember everything and when you call 911 they will be able to calm you down and help you out.
