Does a cancer patient has right to know her own condition? |
Does a cancer patient who still under-age has right to know about her own health condition? Doctor has just refuse to give me further cemotheraphy and she is curious about what acctually going on. All she know that she is in stage IV. Please tell what to do? I mean how she can convince doctor or her parents to tell honestly about my condition. Yes, why shouldn't a cancer patient be told of the existing condition like any other illness. Surely this should be done, but since the patient is underage, parents or guardians have to be taken into confidence by the treating doctors and thereafter certain salient points of the illness are to be laid bare and explained further if the patient so desires, while giving all options. It would be a highly sensitive issue and therefore sensitivities must not be ruffled at any cost. Maybe you can surf the net about stage 4.. and check out the conditions yes, yes, yes, honesty is the kay. i know she is young but she has a right to know what is going on with her. obviously with all of the testing she knows that something isnt right with her. you should defenitely be honest Wow, so tough, good luck. your question is confusing when you say "Doctor...refuse..to give ME" and then you say "and SHE" as though you were then talking about another person, in the same sentence. So I can't figure out who in your estimation the doctor isn't telling, you or her. First of all let me say that a doctor will tell a parent, and then if the parent wants the child to know their condition the parent will tell the child. Yes, in order to gain cooperation from the patient. But say it in a nice way that she will not get more ill. yes. She has the right to know the truth a second opinion with a different doc and express the desire to wanting to know the truth in what is going on.extending love and hope and best of luck of course Stage four is a deadly cancer. Maybe they don't want to burden you and you should demand from your oarents to tell you whats going on and sit down and discuss it with them and oyur doctor. I would try to keep it from her by lying and being reassuring. I can see no benefit to telling her the truth, but do not let it show in your faces. Try to talk to your doctor and your parents You have every right to know whats going on with your body and to be informed about your condition. I think you should have a say on what happens to you. Good luck and GOd Bless yes , everyone has a right to know their own condition , but if they stopped chemo, it must not be working and stage 4 is never a good sign , i am so sorry...... You have every right as a patient to know exactly what is going on with your body. It is wrong for a doctor to withhold that information from you. You have the right to know why you are in the hospital, what brought you there and what you are being treated for. If that doctor will not be straight up with you, ask one of the nurses when they come around to check on you or ask to see another doctor. Yes - She should know her condition. You should inform her everything step by step taking a few days time so that she is mentally aware of the situation. Especially when she is a stage VI patient you have to apprise. Everyone mo matter what age they are in have the right to know his or her health conditions. Although you are underage, but you still have to know your health especially if you have problems in order to see what to look out for and beware of. absolutely!!!!! I know is some non-US countries they do not always tell patients their diagnosis, but I disagree with this. Even if there is no hope of a cure with treatment, a patient needs to know they are dying so that they can mentally prepare. Many patients at the end stages of life accept death and come to peace with it, even at very young ages. I'm very sorry about her situation. Surround her with love and peace in the days ahead. |
