What are your legal rights if you know a doctor is giving a patient drugs that they are addicted too ?

You really have no idea what is going on between the doctor and the patient. How do you know how that person feels? They may be in extreme pain and the meds help them get through the day. Before you start meddling in other people's health care you might try to find out why the person takes the meds to begin with.

If you have questions then ask the person who is taking them, but don't be surprised if they tell you to mind your own business.

You have no legal rights to interfere in someone's health care.

If you are neither the patient nor the patient's guardian, then you have no legal rights.

Maybe the patient needs that drug for a life threatening disease. If not, the Dr could be sued for malpractice.

If the person is related to you, you get it stopped immediately.
If it's happening to someone you know, you can report them to the AMA for an investigation. (American Medical Association) in your state.

Depends if that patient needs that drug or not. Some medicine are addictive, that's why they need to be prescribed and monitored.

If you suspect a doctor is diong malpractice and giving unethically and/or illegally, you can report him to the AMA (American Medical Association) medical board. But you'd better have your medical facts straight.

Depends on where you live. In Ontario where I am from I would report it to the Ontaro College of Physicians who will investigate the doctor
