Should a soapsudes enema be given with patient on left side right knee drawn, or knee chest with head down? |
My health nurse reccomends me having a soapsuds enema, what position would be best? It should be given with the left side with the left leg straight and the right knee flexed (Sim's position). If someone else is giving it to you, it should be more comfortable to assume the knee-chest position. Jesus. Get a second opinion and a new nurse. It really doesn't matter as long as it enema gets in there. The patient could be standing on his head with his legs in the air or against a wall. I would think lying on your left, with your right knee drawn would be the most comfortable for a patient who has never had one before. First way is correct, but I suggest "How about not at all!?!" Soapsuds? Are you serious? You'll fart bubbles for weeks, possibly forever. Even worse, you won't be able to "sneak one out" and blame it on the dog. |
