My wife is a kidney patient for which takes steroid tablets for treatment a very mininal dose. That causes lot of unwanted and unexpected problems every time with a different one. Now for the past 2 months she gets severe abdominal pain during mensuration time. Can any body give a solution to this. I will be extremely thankful for the right guidence. I don't know what kind of kidney problems your wife has or what specific steroid she is on but hopefully I can offer some insight. I had end stage renal failure, a nephrectomy, and a kidney transplant when I was 17 (19 now) and I've been on prednisone for a very long time (5 mg/day). I find it strange that your wife is menstruating at all, because I didn't and still don't even though I have one kidney now. Usually women with kidney problems stop menstruating (again, I don't know exactly what her diagnosis is) because they become anemic and the kidneys produce erythropoietin that helps with red blood cell production. I would talk to her doctor to see if there is anything irregular and talk about every option. (I like to do alot of research before I go to the doctor and discuss medication because sometimes they don't tell you about all the options, and I like to be well informed) Unfortunately, every medication I'm on gives me side effects, it's just kind of something we have to deal with. Also, if birth control is an option, certain kinds (Yaz, for example) usually help with menstrual cramps. I guess my simple answer is just do some research and talk in-depth with your doctor. I hope everything works out for her. It sound like just a normal side effect of menstruation. |
