Bowel cancer? |
I have bowel cancer which is inherited within my family. My girlfriend is pregnant and I was told by someone, that when the baby is born, we would have to take a paternity test, to find out if the baby has bowel cancer. Is it true? SOUNDS LIKE YOUR GIRLFRIEND A paternity test is to find out if you are the father or not. Never heard of such a thing. I bet you weren't told this by a doctor, were you? Although the exact cause of bowel cancer isn't understood, it's known that genetics can play a big part. Specific genetic mutations can cause bowel cancer or inherited diseases known to predispose to the condition. For example, familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) accounts for about 1 per cent of all cancers of the colon and rectum. It causes the widespread development of polyps throughout the bowel from teenage years onwards, many of which will rapidly become cancerous. yeh a paternity test is to see if u r the dad but they can do it even when the baby is unborn so you will know sooner than when the baby is born |
