Exercises for Patella Tendinitis?

i am a basketball player...14 years old.... and have patella tendonitis.. i have tried icing but that only works for a very short amount of time... my coach recommended doing excersises for my legs to strengthen the tendon.... Can you please list some exercises that will strengthen my tendon and help relieve pain?

ok...first it's patellar tendonitis...pertaining to the patella...I had it for a while...when I went to the physical therapist they had me do a lot of strength training with elastic bands. Ex. take the band and loop it around the leg of a heavy desk or chair and loop the other end around your ankle. Cross the ankle with the band over your other ankle and repeat. You can also do that forward and back. You can also check sites like this one http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/patellad...
and see if any of those things work for you. Maybe check this site also

They had me taking Naproxen as an anti-inflammatory while I was doing my therapy...
