Floating patella? |
I've had a floating patella my entire life...im only 19 and its been giving me problems forever...such as dislocating my knee yearly, which usually involves a trip to the hospital and crutches for a week...it inhibits my life and I hate it...does anyone have this problem and how do you deal with it? Please help it makes my life miserable and it stops me from doing alot of things ive wanted to do... I have had all sort of problems with my knee caps (although not this particular one). A floating patella is generally caused by some type of irritation or inflammation that triggers release of excess synovial fluid (called an effusion). There are a variety of possible problems that could be causing the effusion Without knowing the underlying cause, there's no way to know the proper treatment. In general, strength and stretching exercises are helpful, but they can also make things worse in some circumstances. If you want to get this fixed once and for all, you need to see an orthopedic surgeon. |
