I tore my ACL 4+ yrs ago and had a patella graft. Since surgery I have had issues w/ the screw and retore ACL |
After my surgery the screw protrudes a little bit and irritates my hamstring making it difficult to do leg curls, skip or similar exercises. I had been considering removing the screw but was just dealing with it instead. however in February I retore my ACL (can't be found on MRI), but I don't want to do surgery again. I did physical therapy to strngthen my knee but now I am in a lot of pain behind my knee in my hamstring. I am very active playing rugby, boarding, soccer, etc. any advice on options? If you want to be as active as you have been in the past then you must have the surgery to reconstruct your ACL. You need the stability in your knee that the ACL provides to do sports and to do those things without an ACL you risk much further damage. My advice is to do your research and find the best surgeon in your area...the better the surgeon the better your outcome. Having a second ACL reconstruction surgery is twice as prone to fail as the first so you need to make sure it is done right this time and that you rehab by giving 110%. Make sure you keep up with the exercises after you are done with PT...and make sure you go to a sports medicine PT. The price of knee surgery is very low in India as compared to USA, UK and Canada. My cousin also got her hip replacement surgery in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She is totally pain free now. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company. |
