My hubby has to have knee surgery on the patella-tendon area, how long will it take to heal?

His job required climbing and jumping.Does this mean he will have to get on disability? will his knee ever be the same? This was an injury.

it could take anywhere from 4 months to 6 months to heal. It also depends on how much therapy he receives, and if he does it at home as well. Also the knee will never be the same again, it will probably cause him pain at times. But that will be normal. But if the Doctor is good, he should be able to climb, and probably jump, but he will have to be careful.

Y DIDNT THE DOC TELL YOU THAT? PRO 6 WEEKS - 6 MONTHS. I WOULD SAY

Disability, work man comp, some times about a year to recover an may-be life

What type of surgery did he have? Reattachment? In most cases, therapy will take 8-12 weeks, but full recovery could take a year...he certainly may return to near normal status...it all depends on his pre-op condition, the skill of his surgeon, and the degree of tear.

I had surgery on my patella and the muscle around it a month ago and i didnt go on disability. my knee will get better and so will your husbands but it depends on how much he strenghtens the muscles in his leg and the intesity of his surgery. It will probably take between 6 wks- 6mnths maybe longer to heal..thats what my doctor told me..it has been almost 6 wks for me and i know my knee isnt as strong as it was but its getting there. hope i helped!

The price of knee surgery is very low in India as compared to USA, UK and Canada. My cousin also got her hip replacement surgery in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She is totally pain free now. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines. I have read a lot of their patient stories also. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as all joint surgery is not covered by insurance in USA or by NHS in the UK. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that your surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.

somewhere between 4-8 weeks on cruthes. physical therapy very important here! knees are never the same as before and injury/surgery, but recovery can come close. it's hard work, but follow doctors instructions and PT to have the best results!!!

take a list of questions to his doctor when you both go back and ask these questions! he/she is better to really answer these, but be aware that he can only give you a general idea of some of them. take care, and best of luck with your husbands recovery. i know it will be hard on you as well!!!
