My mom was diag. with Parkinson's disease and is having problems with her vision what should we expect?

What are the long range effects of parkinson's disease as it progresses......

She is seeing double. She was diag. 3 months ago and the tremors are very bad already she is 66. She sleeps all the time and absolutely has not energy....She has begun to retain fluid and her ankles and feet are extremely swollen. She is also a diabetic. Until this disease she worked in a plant was very active. This is a complete turnaround from the her working years....

this will answer your questions on eyesight
having worked with Parkinson's patients for 40 years and my husband having it for the last 6 years i can tell you
it effects mobility balance hand writing gait
in the very late stages it effects swallowing
the face has mask like symptoms
the eyes do not blink as much
some people have uncontrollable hand tremors
legs and joints become stiff and the person fatigues easily
some people stay at the same level for many years
some deteriorate rapidly
there are many medications for Parkinson's disease and constant monitoring by the neurologist and evaluation of drugs- dosages and drug combinations can help to maintain a person for quite a while
try looking at the Michael J. Fox foundation website and the national Parkinson foundation website for information
there are also many websites like webmd or just search Parkinson's disease
it isn't easy but there is always hope
help her to stay positive and focus on the things she can still enjoy
also discuss the problems fully with the ophthalmologist
there isn't a cure yet
but we can hope and pray research will find one
i wish you all the very best

Please add a comment whether or not her vision is getting blurry or is she hallucinating. My mother-in-law had a Parkinson's like illness and she used to see things that weren't there (or at least I couldn't see them).

Her vision could be a side effect of the medication she is on. Please advise her doctor as soon as possible. This rapid progression seems a little strange to me - it usually takes longer. It sounds like she could be having an adverse reaction to some medication. However I am not a doctor but I do recommend you get a second opinion or tell her current neurologist what is going on.
There are also alternative/complementary treatments if she is not responding well to conventional medicine. Please see my site at www.discoveritonline.biz/alternative.htm...
