Are there any lap tops around that are Parkinson's disease friendly ? |
this lap top is going to be used by a 67 year,(computer virgin) with limited funds.he prefers a laptop to a pc as he only has limited space in his home, and he is suffering with parkinson's disease,so does any one know of anyone who has had to deal with a similar predicament, and could you please point me in the direction of any relevant information, ie groups or forums..many thanks Hi Mark - how about a standard laptop within his budget but then you / he buys some voice recognition software? This way he doesnt have to worry about knocking the wrong keys etc when he has an extra shakey moment. I bought some software with a headset and mic for typing letters etc from PC World but Im sure theres something you can use to run the whole PC. Have a word with youir local PC supplier. Let me know if I can be of any more help and good luck in the search. Bex x That is a hard one as electronic keyboards are extremely sensitive. Not really designed for someone with poor motor control Voice recognition is a good suggestion. If using a mouse, then set the mouse to be less sensitive to movement. Also larger keys on the keyboard might help. Good luck. |
