Do anti depression medications could make Parkinson disease symptoms worst?

My father is 85 years old and is taking Parkinson med. and anti depressions med. Recently he got worth the doctor says it's the anti depression med. that's causing that.... I'm not sure.
My father lives overseas so I can't do much from here (Ca) but if that's true, I sure like to know. Thank you very much

same thing happened w/ my grandpa...he was doing ok then they put him on all kinds of meds. and within a day or 2 he couldnt even remember people...they took him off the dep. meds. and all the other meds. he was on and now i think he only takes the parkensons med. and hes doing WWWAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better

Thank you very much

The best suggestion I can give you on that is to get a second opinion and do some reasearch on the medications he is taking, that is the best way to find out if those meds are affecting him.

find out what he is exactly taking GENERIC NAME PLEASE, then ask you doctor or pharmacist. Usually the drugs that depress or inhibit dopamine receptors cause a lot of problems for parkinson patients. have him ask his doctor if it will affect his medications he takes or his conditions.

Yes they can. Because antidepressants change the brains chemistry, so by flooding the brain with too much of one chemical, it shuts down the other receptors, then you start getting Parkinsons-like symptoms.

"Some studies have found that selective serotonin-reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) -- which include fluoxetine (Prozac), sertraline (Zoloft), and paroxetine (Paxil) -- may worsen Parkinson symptoms. Doctors should monitor patients taking SSRIs."
