Medical credentials needed for dr. to diagnose parkinson disease?

ANy doctor can diagnose a disease.
Parkinson's is most often a disease of exclusion.
I'm an OT at a hospital. Nearly all the Parkinson's patients that I see have decreased balance when walking, tend to take little steps, start to become rigid- especially when trying to sit down- they'll lean back but have trouble smoothly bending their knees. MAny exhibit "gloving" or "masking" of the face where they appear to have a kind of emotionless look all the time, without much facial muscle movement. Then later there are the tremmors, esp. in the arms, and late stage includes memory loss/ dementia....sound like the person you're thinking of?

A degree from a medical college. Maybe a little on-the-job experience. If you don't believe the diagnosis, you have the right to get a second opinion.

The diagnosis is usually made by a neurologist, but there is no requirement that it one. Other doctors can make the diagnosis. A neurologist is the expert that is best qualified.
