Is parenting the cause of schizophrenia?

Can the way someone was raised cause hallucination

Yes. The most recent studies on schizophrenia say that the disorder is cause by either (or both) biological factors (genetics) and the environment in which one is raised. This suggests that parenting could potentially effect someone's predisposition to schizophrenia, but it is in no way the ONLY way, and it could be a number of other things as well (school environments, other family members, traumatic experiences, etc.)

Schizophrenics don't have to have hallucinations.

Oh, and I think it's hereditary.

Two questions here.
Schizophrenia is a physiolocigal disease. A deterioration of the brain. (recently cat scans have shown similarities in schizophrena and alzheimer's disease.)

Can the way someone was raised....
Possibly. Prsoners in solitary confinement often have "caged animal syndrome" which includes hallucinations.

I have had several friends that were schizophrenic and have one now and I do believe the parents and upbringing causes this, sorry if that doesn't agree with the psychiatrists and physcologist point of view. They see these people for an hour or two each week and have no idea how dysfunctional they are on a daily basis. I am trying clean a trailer for one that hasn't touched anything in 10 years and lives in a total dump and absolute chaos. It is hard to understand the way they think but hopefully can get him on the right track because if your environment is totallly a wreck and you can't even get from the kitchen to the bathroom, I would be very confused too. His mother is an absolute Hallucination. Does this answer your ?

I would imagine that there are or can be many factors that can also include heredity such as allergies to certain foods like dairy. I haven't any doubt that one day genome studies and genome therapy will be able to correct some of these problems.I was once told that Down Syndrome was also reversible and has been accomplished in trials but the government halted the studies. I'm fairly certain it isn't just limited to parenting though. Many people are supposedly bi- polar which is said to be a precursor to schizophrenia. Environmental factors can be many things besides parenting.
