Why aren't we licensing parents? |
Some parents do unspeakable things to their children. After the children are irrepairably damaged, society might be able to remove the children. But for most children, it's too late. Even the social services charged with the responsiblility to care for the damaged children are failing at a terrible rate. Start with a marriage license. Raise and care for a pet dog before attempting to raise a child. I don't think that we can put the last one into law鈥攖he first one is too often ignored as it is.. License parents? I don't know about licensing them, but I know in some states it is a law that single moms who are recieving public assistance must attend parenting classes. If we did this now my mother would have hers revoked! I am afraid there is no realistic remedy for this horrible state of affairs. I would personally hang any person who tortured a child. I did volunteer work on this subject and drugs were almost the entire reason for such parenting. We haven't been able to win the war on drugs. I wish we could force everyone to take a parenting course before they can have a child but that would be unconstitutional. It might help if we had more social service people working on this problem. So you would like the state to come to you and put on a chastity belt the you cannot remove just so you cannot have children? because licensing parents on any level would make us a communistic country that regulates basic human decision making. Bad idea. Ignore the bs rule we were all taught when we were young and might even hear today of "mind your own business". That is how we have sunk to where we are at. If you see something that you know is wrong DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. that is an idea, if people had to actually accept responsibility for all that they did it might change some things! Personally I think that when people want to become parents they should have to take a test and if they fail the test then they can never become parents. In todays society there are so many people who continue to have children just for the money that they get from the state. They end up having like 10 people living in a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment and the state just sits there and dishes out more money. And there are so many kids that are growing up in foster care it's pathetic. Every day you are hearing on the news about parents who are murdering their children or beating the holy crap out of them and it's sad that you know that those kids who survive these parents will grow up to have so many problems. Such as PTSD, mild or severe depression, and a number of other mental and health problems. I personally think that it is sad that so many kids have to grow up like that. I grew up like that. I lived in foster care for 10 years after my step father molested me and now I have a number of mental health issues. Granted they can all be treated so that I can manage them with medication but still no child should ever grow up like that. NOT ONE!!!!!!!!! Thank goodness someone else realizes how much social services doesn't do! I've seen it first hand. |
