My cousins parents r short but she's TALL. My Parents are Taller then hers and IM SHORT?

yea my cousins parents are short , her dad even being like 5'6, and mom 5'1, and she is 5'7 !

My parents are closer to average height
but I am 4'11 (16 yrs. old)

How did that happen? that sux lol
i wish i could grow still, i am the shortest in my family, eveyone's over 5 feet at least!

hmmm.... you havn't fully grown(finish puperty) so i can't be sure

but if you did then it might be the genes that's doing this. you are 16 and should know that there are two same kind of stuff(alleles) that determines your trait,one from your dad, one from your mom. for example, if your parents are tall, they got the genes from their parents. lets use letter "T" for that tall stuff (allel) and "t" for short stuff. and in this case, T is dominant meaning whenever T is present, the person will be tall. so your parents might be either Tt or TT for their height. one of it come from their mom and the other from their dad. in this case, they should both be Tt. so that when they had u, they gave one of their "stuff" you, you then got one of the t from mom and the other from dad so you are "tt",all short, so u are what u are right now

lol, i'm pretty much in the same boat as you are. I'm also the shortest in the family even though my parents are like average height.

however, this may be due to genes, and depending on which height allele (trait for a character of a gene), whether it's short or tall, that you inherited...in addition, it also depends on the environment, doing enough exercise etc.

u gotta find out frm ur mom, whose ur uncle n whose ur dad..

My grandfather was 6', my mother (his only child) was 5', my grandmother 5'1"...I am 5'2"..my sister 4'9" and my brother 5'3"
My Dad was 5'9"...genetics is a funny thing...
My husband is the same height as his father 5'5"...but his older brother, his younger brother and sister are all TALLER than their parents and my husband...
It used to be you could tell by looking at the parents how tall the kids would be, but because of drugs, (leagal and illegal), booze, nutrition and genetics (going wrong or right) you can't tell about kids and heights these days...

I think for a start you have probably stopped growing due to your age.It must also be a pain to see your cousin being taller than you.Sometimes you dont always take after your parents as you could take after some old grandparent who was short.Some people are different heights take me 5'2 the second oldest and the shortest out of 6 kids so it dont figure.My own 2 kids are nearly taller than me 13 yrs and 10 .I think you will probably fins alot of adults that height 4'11.It is just a shame that when you get older then you will start to shrink i know it is along way off but that is what will happen so you could end up under 4'9 sorry to ley you know that
