Parent's Insurance and Birth Control? |
Hi everyone, I almost forgot...my parents are very traditional and believe that sex should be saved for after marriage, so I'm petrified to even bring up the conversation of sex and birth control with them. As silly as it may sound since I'm 20 if they found out I'd be in a lot of trouble. Check with the local health department or planned parenthood. A lot of time after an examination they are dispensed free or for very little charge. If you don't want your parents to know, don't use the insurance. If you are a student you might check with the student health services. You need to remember you still need to use barrier protection to avoid STD's. Good luck. Find the local Planned Parenthood in your area, they give out birth control for free. There's a good chance they're find out, yeah. I went to planned parenthood for this very reason, because I knew I could get birth control cheaper there, and my parents wouldn't have to know. Of course, a week later my mom sat me down for a heart to heart and told me she wanted me to be on birth control since I'd been with my boyfriend a year. So go figure. Anyway, I didn't have a job, so I got my Depo shot for free, without insurance. Hope I helped.=) You can explain to your doctor that you know being on the pill may help regulate your periods better and help with cramping, that you have probs during that time. It really does regulate you and really helps lesson the duration etc... Medical reason then would be why you're on the pill. it doesn't matter cause birth control is NOT covered by insurance. the pills will run you anywhere from 25 dollars for generic up to fourty dollars a month. like everyone else said a government clinic will charge you for the pills based on your income to ensure that it's affordable for you, but you have to be a patient (get your exam) there. for who said insurance does not pay they do, as your parents do not get a list of what was given. Plus you could say they were given because your period was irregular. |
