Getting checked without parents knowing, what about insurence?

So, I am a college student and I know that I have an std because I am showing many signs, including bumps, I know that I need to get tested but I refuse to tell my parents. I dont have any planned parent hoods near me and the closest one told me that they have no available appointments till the begining of the year, which is way to long. I don't know where to go because I know many places including a regular gynocologists office will require insurance which will end up showing up for my parents to see, What do I do and where do I go?

and none of these health centers require insurence?

Does your college or university have a student health center? They usually see alot of STDs and the care and treatment is usually free or very inexpensive. You could also call your insurance company and they can explain to you what exactly will show up on the forms they send. They usually don't send out information on a level of detail that would give your situation away (its against something called HIPAA regulations). Like your claim will show up as an "Office Visit" but its not going to say what the diagnosis is or what kind of tests were done. You can then just tell your 'rents you went in for a check-up.

Talk to the health center at your college. And remember ALL medical care is confidential.

you act like a adult and pay cash for the appointment

go to a plan parenthood center or somewhere for youngsters to get tested and keep there privacy

call the local county health office and look for help there.

u need to find a free clinic (health dept) in your area...its free and confidential no appt. needed.

Planned Parenthood will be your best option. They dont require any insurance and its totally confidential. They will call you and nobody has to know your business. Depending on the state you live in it may be completly free since your a student and probably don't make too much money. But even if its not free there may be a small charge.. The will treat you and give you a prescription easy

Good luck

Since I work for a public health department I would definitely call your county health department. If you don't have the money or insurance you can charge it or pay whatever you have. Most health departments do not require an appointment but I would call first. The information is strictly confidential and there is no way for your parents to find out unless you tell them and then it's only what you tell them. You can be checked, diagnosed, treated and even refer or have the nurses get your partners in for treatment free of charge and confidential. If you have exposed yourself to an STD please be aware you have also put yourself at risk of contracting the HIV and Hep. B virus of which there is no cure. If you get one of these two things you will die from them.
