My parents won鈥檛 let me wear Contact Lens.?

I know that some parents won't allow their children to wear Contact Lens because...

1. They think you are too young
2. Too expensive
3. Not responsible enough to take care of them
4. Bad for your eyes
5. They think there is no difference between Contacts and Glasses.

I tried convincing my mom and dad, but they still say NO.

So I researched contact lens (ACUVUE) and made a whole booklet -even with a table of content- but they still say NO. I'm going to the eye doctor in OCTOBER, and I told my mom to ask the eye doctor about Contact lens.

I really want Lens badly because I can have clearer vision,
Have more confidence^.^
Easier to play sports,
GET LESS INSULTS,
And to have an easier way to get better vision.

I am turning 13 next month, which is the age most ppl start wearing contacts.

Any tips to convince my parents?
Anything will HELP!!!!

Thanks= )

have u told u parent that it makes u feel bad wen ever the kids makes fun of u and that hurts ur feelings well GOOD LUCK hope u get them becuz i want sum too

#4 on your list is no joke son.

I would say I started using contacts at 13. I felt much more confidence in myself. I didn't look ugly anymore once I got rid of the glasses. With contacts u can see better cause they are closer to your eye. Yes u do need to take very good care of the contacts and your eyes when using them. It's more work. It is easier to play sports cause your glasses are not falling off your face and u don't have to worry about glasses getting broken. Contacts really are not that expensive unless your eyesight starts to get terribly bad like if you get astigmatisms in your eyes. Then it could get costly. If u are responsible enough then your parents should at least allow u to try contacts. I know how it felt as a kid to be picked on for wearing glasses. All the name calling was not nice. Talk to your parents. Explain to them that u don't want the insults. Ask if there is a way for u to do extra chores to help with the cost of the contacts.

At 13 you really don't have many options, when your parents say no it means no. Remember that your parents have your best interests at heart and you only get one pair of eyes that have to last you for your entire life.

It's good that you're researching, hopefully that will impress the parents! Have they given you any specific reasons for saying no? Have you proven unreliable on other matters of personal hygiene? Are they concerned about the cost? Etc.? If you know what their objections are, you may be able to better present your point.

I would ask them when would be a good time to sit down and talk about the contacts when everyone can focus (no pun intended ;-)) on the topic and try to find out what their concerns are and try to be prepared to give your counterpoints. Say in the past, you had to be reminded to shower once you started to stink (no offense - just a random example!), if you can (honestly!) show how you've started to take better care of yourself, it could help. Be honest - are you responsible about your things and remembering to take care of your chores?

Contact lenses, when administered by a doctor and worn correctly, are rarely dangerous - BUT if you're willy nilly about how you take care of them, you do end up risking your vision. They're also expensive (especially when you factor in the costs associated with them beyond the initial cost of the lenses, which varies based on the type you have).

If you can get your parents to speak with your eye doctor, that could help if their concerns are primarily medical, but if they're more about your own responsibility, the ball's in your court to prove that you can be responsible.
