Sleep Paralysis... What To Do? :[?

Okay, I have always had Sleep Paralysis, blah blah. But it rarely shows up anymore... only for a brief second and then I snap out of it. Well, right now... I am afraid to go to sleep. Why? Because every time I lay down... my body snaps into Sleep Paralysis mode and I try to move my fingers. I tried switching positions, but it keeps on happening... the last time it happened (before I finally got out of bed and onto the computer), my heart was racing and I started to hallucinate for a brief second. I am scared to go to bed because I have already prepared myself for the worse and I know that if I choose to go to bed, I WILL hallucinate and I am not willing to let that happen. So, tell me what I can do on the internet or something while I wait for the sun to rise.

And for those who do not know what Sleep Paralysis is, it is when your body temporary paralyzes while waking up or going to sleep. You can not move, scream, or do anything. Usually, the victim hallucinates... a common hallucination is of the old hag. She crawls into your room while you are fully aware, she climbs onto your bed, and sits on your chest until the point of suffocation. Another common hallucination is of some thing "evil" talking in your ear or touching you. I remember reading of someone seeing a torso wander into the room... these are not related to the paranormal. It is just that Sleep Paralysis is when the brain is still in REM state, but the body is awake so you are awake, but dreaming.

Ive had it happen a few times but it was about 10 years ago. It was a couple times over a couple years. I never asked a doctor about it but had looked on the Internet and found the hag story which creeped me out since the whole episode is very frightning. But being of scientific mind i knew it wasnt paranormal. I had passed mine off on the horrible matress and pillow i had going on. Each time it happened I seemed to have my head pitched back further than it usually is when i awoke so I still assume it to be some sort of pinched nerve or something similar to an asleep limb. Try changing up your sleeping surface or position to test the theory.

I've had sleep paralysis 4 as long as I can recall. What I've noticed is that since I know what it is, it doesn't bother me much, I'll just lay there until I snap out of it. Just tell urself "it's OK, I'll snap out of it in a moment, I am safe" don't struggle, accept it as a part of ur life. Report It

Caffeine, heavy meals and stress seem to be the main causes. I've had it too like at a time when there was a lot of stuff going on.
